AI18 doesn't want to shell this

I have a part

which I wish to shell. I bring up the shell command --> select six faces (the slot-shaped one at the front and the round ones on the pipes at the back) --> click on Remove Faces --> click on OK. Shell process fails. This is a slightly more convoluted version of an earlier iteration of the part which shelled okay.

I wouldn't have thought the added contortion would trouble AI. Can anyone see an obvious problem?

Issue is caused by the base plate. Creating that as separate body and combining back after shelling does it.

But shape still needs fine-tuning.

Hi! If you are looking for a shell, the problem in my opinion is in "Base Plate" and "uprights" because it is modeled as a fusion of solids, the emptying will have problems in this part because it will try to empty inside the set. Here I made a model that tries to remove that part, then shell and then combine solids. Also it would be necessary to retouch enough the file to leave it well, since it gives me limitations in the shell, it can be due to the complicated geometry that has remained. Maybe you need to use more guide curves, so that the figure keeps a certain harmony. On the other hand if the shell fails could look for alternative paths like thickened faces for example and then combine the necessary solids. regards!!

I just suppressed the Base Plate and Uprights and shelled the little varmit .

You're right. Shelling those parts would be a trick. I wanted a 2.5 mm shell and the uprights are only 4 mm thick - impossible.

I figured you were referring to the asymmetric paneling of the shelled unit, Seeing I am always in learning mode I redid the lofting in a different sequence. I got a different asymmetric paneling .

What were you thinking about?

Something like that was in my mind.

But it can't be shelled, because of too much "noise" around the tube ends.

I don't know what's connected after them, but I think they're not perfect, either. Some ends are not cut perpendicular to the center line.

Hi, note that the operation "empalme5" softens the figure a bit and you can make a shell with more thickness, to avoid these errors the guide curve has to be more smoothed at the ends as a tangent for example, to discover the places where it gives the error I went testing with face thickness, selecting until I gave error, and then soften the conflicting parts and apply the new shell "Vaciado3".
