Hi! It is hard to tell without seeing the file. Problems on imported geometry usually fall into two categories. 1) The exporting system messes up the geometry when writing out to the export format. 2) The importing system misinterprets the geometry.

Without seeing the file, it is hard to tel where the problem is. You may want to use Repair workflow. Right-click on the imported geometry -> Repair -> Find Errors -> Heal Errors. If the errors cannot be fixed, you can delete the problematic geometry and recreate it manually.

Many thanks!

Hi There,

Just wondering if anyone else has similar issues when importing STEP files? Perhaps its just a result of the native program that creates these files but I have alot of issues with cylinders not completing on counterbores, tapped holes, etc. and "folding" on itself.

Just curious if there is a fix to this or a recurring problem?

The native files do not have the folds and when exported are perfect cylinders.

For my purposes this creates a lot of grief as I need to try and rebuild and trim surfaces which also do not function very well.

Hi!

This is due the export translation process.

With that one, yes, you have to fix it to turn it in a solid.

What's the native program?

Tip:

Ask for other formats, like SAT or IGES.
