It looks to me as if a revolve and a sweep would be all that's required, plus filleting. If it is a symmetric item (can't quite tell from your drawing) then you only need to model half of it, then mirror it afterwards.

The sweep path will be a 3D sketch, of course, but it can be created by a couple of 2D sketches, which are easier to control.

Looking for any general guidance on the making of this model

Hello all, so I've made a decent amount of models with using Inventor. However, they're usually pretty straight forward, basic and implemented easily from my CAD drawings. My boss has wanted me to design an upgrade from this disposable speculum model found online:

After some tracing and enhancements, I came up with this 2D isometric drawing below. It was for idea purposes only. My boss liked it, she wants me to implement this to Inventor, and then I have to 3D print the model before our next meeting in Boston (for hands-on visual purposes only). Obviously, the view of this 2D drawing is of no use for a 3D object. I'm just curious if anyone had any pointers as to how I should start this out? What modifications will definitely need to be done? I guess I'm not looking for an all out answer, just maybe a direction from your experience? I'm taking a shot in the dark. I messed around on my own, but I've been failing. I feel like me asking for some help on this is somewhat just asking you to do my job, but again, maybe just some pointers or direction? Thanks in advance 🙂

Hi Guys,

Mike's solution is great! It is exactly what I would approach this kind of design. Surface modeling is much more flexible in stylish design. One can probably consolidate a few features. But, this is pretty much it.

Many thanks!
