I am currently working on a project for an assignment where I have to make a picture using Inventor 2018 to cut out on a CNC Laser Engraver. To make this picture I have chosen to import an image and trace the lines with the spline tool. The image is extremely detailed so I ended up creating forty-three sketches to make it so I could save my progress at different points as tracing. My predicament is that when I transfer the image to the printing program for the CNC Laser Engraver it comes up in the wrong position so I am seeing the side - so basically just a line - rather than the actual sketch and there is no option to rotate. This is why I ask the question about moving multiple sketches at once from one plane to another. Thank you for your time, thoughts, and answers.

Hi! I don't think there is a workflow allowing you to consolidate the sketches into one. You probably can edit a sketch, copy, and paste it to a new sketch (in a new file). Repeat the process. The quickest thing I would do is simply export the file to DWG or DXF. Then import it back to Inventor.

Another thing you could try is to use AutoCAD Raster Design (or AutoCAD 2019). It helps convert raster image to vectored lines and curves in AutoCAD. Then you can import it back to Inventor. Or use DWG Underlay workflow to bring in the geometry.

Many thanks!
