Thickening a Helical Surface Glitch

Hi, I encountered a bug that creates erroneous geometry when I thicken a helical surface. I first created a helical spiral 1 inch above a cylindrical solid, then projected the spiral onto the cylinder. I then lofted the two spirals two create a surface. When I thickened the surface, random erroneous geometry was created and I have no idea how it happened. How did this happen, and how can I fix it?

Hi! This is a bug. It means the thickened geometry is bad. It should not be. I notice that you are using Loft to create the helical surface. Could you tell me why you could not use Sweep along helical path instead? The geometry created by Sweep is more precise per definition.

Hi, I'm new to Inventor and didn't know that you could use sweep for this. I shall try sweep instead of loft and see if that fixes it.
