I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I can't find the answer; I apologize.

I have an assembly and used the mirror command to mirror several parts. The assembly works just fine, but in my BOM on my drawing I have part1 and part1_MIR as different parts. It's a symmetric part and I only used the mirror command to save time in assembling, so is there any way to combine these parts into a single BOM item? Or should I have placed the mirrored parts manually and not used the mirror command at all?

Thanks.

You should not have mirrored the parts at all if all you are trying to do is cut corners to save time.

In the end you are spending it anyway.

The parts list as you know, represents all parts represented in the associated assembly. The software doesn't know they are basically identical.

So, the answer to your question is you should just assemble the correct parts you need so you have the correct info in your BOM. Now, you can pattern parts if that helps you at all.

:/// That's unfortunate. I have almost 300 tiny angle clips on a frame created with frame generator, and since they were unevenly spaced, but symmetrical, I thought I was saving a lot of time by just assembling half.

Thanks for your quick response; I really appreciate your help.

It is, I personally am not a big fan of the mirror components. Ends up biting me in the butt in the end.

Is it possible like a I suggested to pattern some of these parts to save some time?

The mirror command defaults to a "make new" option where it makes a new mirrored part that is derived from the original.

You can change the command to the "reuse" option, where the command just adds a new copy of the source part. The command will even apply the same constraints on the additional part, and suppress any that can't be solved.

You may need to review the constraints to ensure that the copied components move as expected after design changes.
