Hi Jeffrey,

As far as I understand, there isn't any difference between the pre-defined iProperties and custom iProperties in terms of the data type and how they are being handled in Inventor. The pre-defined iProperties type cannot be changed. Only the value of the property can be changed. Custom iProperties are more flexible. You can rename it or change type as you wish.

Pre-defined ones are easier to access in Drawing annotation or BOM table, while the custom ones will require a few more steps. I have seen some users exclusively use custom iProperties without filling in any pre-defined iProperties. It is up to you which way you go. There is no right or wrong answer here.

Many thanks!

Good day everyone

Are there any significant differences on using Standard iProperties vs Custom properties? I am curious if there are any limitations with one or the other, other than custom naming?.

I like the idea of being able to custom label properties, but I like to ensure I am not shooting myself in the foot once I enter a entire library in Vault; I am being told, it can be a bear to make changes once it's been entered.

Any advice or guidance from experience is extremely welcome, and always appreciate it.

Thank you all for your time, and kindness as always and wish you a great day

Thank you for writing your answer. While I am very please with how Autodesk writes their help notes, some times I like to reassure by bouncing thoughts of regular users whom can explain it in their own words.

Thank you again for clearing it up for me. Wish you a great day
