@fv,

Sorry that you've experienced some frustration with locating the appropriate help content for this option. We do try our best to keep the help documentation updated with every release, but I agree "Allowable Rotations" is one of the topics where we can certainly add more clarity and some reference examples.

Here's a link that you might find useful for this topic: https://help.autodesk.com/view/TNNUINV/ENU/?query=rotation

Additionally, please note that there are two different levels where allowable rotations can be specified:

Material (found under Nesting tab in Process Material Library dialog)

Shapes (found under Source Nesting Properties dialog)

The material rotation settings always prevail over that of the part. See examples below:

1. If Material rotations are set to 90,180,270 (all checked), Shape rotations for 90, 180, 270 can be checked OR unchecked individually and it will apply corresponding settings for each of the shapes.

2. If Material rotations are set to 180, Shapes can either be rotated 180 OR not rotate at all. Checking 90 and 270 in this scenario still wont allow those rotations as the material restricts it to 0 and 180 ONLY.

3. If Material allows no rotation (90, 180, 270 are all unchecked), Shapes can not be rotated at all irrespective of what Shape rotation options are checked.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have additional questions or are still running into rotation issues. Thanks,

Nesting utility 2019

Very frustrated with the lack of support and difficulty navigating round and round trying to find it. What is the proper procedure for rotating parts in a nest? I see a number of controls that aren't very intuitive in part properties. I can get them to cause parts to rotate but not consistently. It never does the same thing reliably. VERY FRUSTRATED. Is there a document somewhere that explains the functions inside of Nesting utility? I see it getting better with updates, how bout some documentation? Please?

Ok, thank you. This helps some.
Still much that is vague.
What is pre-kit? What is Orientation-orientation to what? What is
priority? Is there a control for grained material? I see a setting for
it in the nesting tab of process material library but what is the
orientation? To what? This is my issue. I am trying to nest grained
material and some comes in 90 degr and some come in zero degr. How do I
control/force some to rotate and not others?
