I am kind of new to inventor (coming from SolidWorks and AutoCAD), and my boss wants me to move everything i have done to a new computer from my laptop via USB DRIVE. I have no clue on how to approach this without breaking links like they did to our other drafter moving from server to pc. if anyone can provide easy to follow info or guidance to something that would help me it would be greatly appreciated.

I think it depends on the structure of the products you work on. If all or most of the components are unique to a particular project then, Pack and go will work well. It's a bit more complicated if your projects share a lot of components with other projects. Can you give a bit more info about how your projects are structured?

Well, each project has parts solely unique to individual projects. I hear a lot about making sure to have the paths and what not exactly the same but I'm not sure about any of that.

@jthompsonZ266J wrote:

Well, each project has parts solely unique to individual projects. I hear a lot about making sure to have the paths and what not exactly the same but I'm not sure about any of that.

Do you use a single .IPJ file to cover all the work from all your projects, or do you use a separate .IPJ for each individual project?

If it's a single .IPJ, it's a lot easier to move- you'll only have one set of folders to move, and they're all listed in the .IPJ:

Notice the highlighted ".\" that keeps repeating. That means that it's the default location, which for "Workspace" is the location of the project, and for Templates is the Public Documents\Autodesk\Inventor [Year] folder. Content Center, iirc, is in Program Data\Autodesk\Inventor [Year].
