Deleting/Removing Hatch in Sketch in .idw

I have made a sketch in an .idw and added a hatch that I would like to remove and redefine the area for, but I cannot find a way to do so. There is no delete option when right clicking on the hatch in the sketch, deleting part of the defined area doesn't seem to work, there is no on/off button in the "Hatch Region" dialogue box, and selecting the same area and setting the hatch pattern to None also does nothing. I would really rather not have to delete the sketch as it was quite detailed. Is there another solution I am missing? Running Inventor 2018.3.3

Hatch the area again and select none for the pattern..

I have already tried this approach from seeing that listed as the solution for Inventor 2019, however nothing happens and the original unwanted hatch is still there and visible.

So that is not an option in your version?

There is an option to select an area and set the hatch pattern to "None" but nothing happens, like it wants to lay a new hatch with a "None" pattern over the original hatch instead of modifying the original hatch on that area.

Hi! It does look like a bug to me. I had to select None twice to get it to work. The behavior is wrong. I will work with the project team to understand it better.

Hi,

I have tried it, on various data sets, on 2018.3, on build 22_284, also on virtual machine on build 22_300, and it was not reproduced. In the edit sketch/draft mode, I have invoked Hatch command, then I have selected a profile, set pattern to "None" and hatch has disappeared immediately, in the scene, before closing dialog by "Ok" button.

Could you provide me a simple data set, where it does not work ? Thanks!

Hi Martin,

I have tried replicating the issue in other drawings and it behaves as you have experienced so the problem seems to be isolated to this drawing. I was able to find a work around since I still needed most of the area hatched, by changing the hatch style standard to a much larger scale so that only a single hatch line was visible, then creating the new hatch within the area I wanted at the correct scale and re-hatching the other areas within the drawing at the correct scale. Even now within the same drawing, if I create a hatched area other than at the particular problem location, it can be modified like normal. I can only guess this was an isolated situation, and perhaps there are actually two enclosed areas being shown such that it is hatching the second area instead of the first, even though they appear identical. Unfortunately I cannot share the file as it contains proprietary information, but I will consider this problem resolved.

late to the post, had similar problem, achieved removing of the hatch by removing one of boundary lines, hatch gone replace boundary re hatch all good

@Anonymous - thanks! Was driving me crazy...

Spent way too much time trying to figure out how to edit. Stupid me, of course - just delete the geometry and recreate everything. Excellent workflow Autodesk - thanks!

Just wondering out loud - did the team that developed the .IDW sketching environment (well, really almost the entire .IDW environment) just quit and leave it an unfinished work? Sure seems like it.

In discussions with our in-house team (including our Inventor developer) it turns out that this hatch issue is only applicable to custom balloons. We have a few that have solid hatches in them and when items are ballooned - but then deleted the attached balloons seem to enter this "orphan" state and cannot be deleted. So, not really a hatch issue.

We're working to develop a routine that scans the .IDW and deletes any non-attached balloons. Not quite there yet - but positive forward progress. Would be lovely if these "orphans" simply turned MAGENTA like other orphaned annotations and could be deleted in the graphic window.
