Inventor stopped working, now can't reinstall it

Hello,

today I launched my computer and while Inventor worked flawlessly yesterday, today it didn't open. Fusion 360 opened without issues. For inventor, I only saw the splash screen, then nothing. I've dug around the internet and did a clean uninstall, deleting anything I found about it. The error code I get when trying to reinstall is 1603. It's absolutely crazy, I downloaded IO uinstaller to clean everything up, uninstalled all the c++ visual I found, all the other autodesk apps I found, nothing bites. Slowly going crazy, I changed nothing from yesterday to today in my system or otherwise. I also tried both downloading the files and web install. No idea what happened - normally when something doesn't work I can retrace where I messed up, but I honestly did nothing to affect Inventor in the slightest, didn't install anything apart from 'treesize' app to check some files.

I had the exact same thing happen to me yesterday, and am still without a solution. I'm glad I'm not the only one, I thought it was something I did. I'm speaking with autodesk and will let you know if I get a solution.

Oh no...I have some very important college work to do till the end of the week. I was really ,really hoping it was something I did that had a fix...if not, then I'm basically in the butt. Please do tell if you find anything about the predicament.

To add to the frustration, I ended up even restoring Windows to an earlier date when the software previously worked, and it still would not correct the issue. Strange.

Thank you for the reply - I have followed all the instructions:

Cleaned up all residue from autodesk installations and programs alike, including deleting all functioning programs like Fusion
cleared out the TEMP folder
Have more than double free disk space
Checked registry for file creation, set to 0

I have also deleted previous C++ installations as suggested in other guides for error 1603, I have tried installing it on other HDD drives, on SSD drive, relogging, redownloading the files, rebooting the system.

It is not, it's an SSD drive installed into my case.

In both cases it appears the install if failing because of the existing Autodesk Licensing service.

Try uninstalling it by running the Uninstall.exe at C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AdskLicensing

Once the uninstall is complete delete this AdskLicensing folder and try installing Inventor again.

Hey, can you perhaps share what kind of installation you used? Webinstall, downloaded through manager, through browser? Did you perform a clean install, deleted your C++ libraries beforehand?

Also, when you clicked uninstall on the licensing, did it pop any wizard or do nothing and just 'deleted' the contents of the folder?

I forgot to mention I did also delete the C++ libraries beforehand. I also performed a clean install. I removed all of the Autodesk Software and files. I am not sure if this is required or not to resolve the problem as I did it earlier when i was trying to find a solution to the issue.

When I run uninstall from the Adsklicensing, it prompts no window and just deletes the files. While that's nothing bad, when installing Inventor 2020 it throws an error prompt saying "unable to start adsklicensingservice". The error 1603 persists and I have no clue what I'm doing wrong, since it helped another person here.

I have attached adsklicensing install log, it throws a bunch of errors...

Here are the steps I followed that worked for me:

1. Removed all autodesk products and folders. (Use the Autodesk Uninstall tool found under programs/ Autodesk)

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/customer-service/download-install/remove-products/remove-windows-products

2. Uninstall all C++

3. Delete License Folder as described by Danny

4. Changed regedit value to 0 for short naming enable

5. Downloaded Inventor from Browser (note that you need to allow Pop-Ups in your browser). There should be 3 inventor files that are downloaded. When Downloaded, select one of them to install the product.

Ah so you also deleted the Autodesk shared folder, as in the link you gave? I will delete everything there and try that way again, thank you.
