Hi together!

i want to shape an QR Code to an object (.ipt) . But i see no way to insert the qr code (filetyp .png/ .jpeg/ .svg/ .eps) so i can shape it or extrude it.

has anybody done this yet? I already searched on google, thought to find something, but seems to me its so easy, nobody asks for, or nobody needs this (excluding me;)

I'm using inventor professional 2019

Thanks for your help and kind regards

Howdy Bernhard I see that you are visiting as a new member to the Inventor Forum.
Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

What's the "shape" exactly means here? Do you mean to decal an image on top of a face or create a sketch and make extusion to have tiny gap for the QR code?

Have you tried with Decal command before?

Please create a new sketch and insert the image in, fit to a square and finish the sketch. Try Decal command and you will have the QR code on the face.

As I understand the request:

@Anonymous has a QR (2d barcode) image.

The image is in a .bmp, .jpg or other art format.

The image needs to be debossed into a part surface for injection molding or other manufacturing process.

The issue is that Inventor, unlike Autodesk's discontinued ArtCAM product, does not have a tool to use an image as the sketch for an extrude. By the way, it would be nice if this code from ArtCAM made it into Inventor.

One possible solution: Inventor can use TrueType fonts in sketches for an extrude feature. A quick Google search shows that 2D QR TrueType fonts are available. If @Anonymous can locate a TTF for the right version of the QD code, then he can install that font, and add the text to a sketch.

One of These students came with the idea of printing some QR codes with several Messages. So i Need to extrude the qr Code out of the Surface.

Am I Right so far?

As far as I can tell, the QR code fonts make each character its own separate QR code, so definitely not what most people are looking for. One app in the Autodesk App Store that might do what you're looking for: KazQR 2022 by BacktoCAD Technologies. The trial version is free, and it has the option of creating DWG/DXF vector formatted QR codes, which should usable in an Inventor model. According to their website, the cost is US $59. I have not tried this app, so I can't speak from personal experience.

Another is cSys QR Code from CodeSystems Finland, which promises to add a QR code to either a drawing or a model in Inventor. Not clear in what form, though; if it's a sketch with vectors, great; if it's as a decal, not so great.

The way I did this was to use a QR generator to create it as a vector image.

I then opened this in Inkscape (a free vector program) and exported as a dxf.

I could now use this in Inventor and extrude each square separately.
