Rendering Issue with Inventor 2020 Studio

Hey,

in a nutshell: I have "clean" files, they do not overelap or even touch each other. So there should be no problem with displaying a normal situation like this.

I have a part in the foreground which is the grey one and a brighter part which is on the back side. But at some random point something odd is happending. You can cleary see this in the finished animation and even in the not "rendered" Inventor window.

For example: Here in this screenshot you can see, all parts are displayed correctly:OK

But if I go further like 2 seconds in my timeline, you can see this:

I know you are thinking "man, there are surfaces touching each other etc." but.. no there are clearly not. The grey one is like 5mm thick and between this one and the brighter part is like 1 mm space.

Somehow (if you need a higher resolution picture, just text me) holes appear that shouldn't be here, too.

Here is also a short gif captured with OBS, I hope that is enouth information for you:

Man this issue is driving me crazy 😄 And I don't know what to do. Maybe a rollback to an older Version? I have done ALOT of rendering and video rendering with Inventor and after using 2020 this comes up at the first try - even with my older parts.

With best regards

Belia

Hello Belia,

Did this happen without Inventor studio, try to quit from studio environment and then zoom in/out as video show, can you still see those ghost rendering in the canvas?

Is that possible to P&G all files to us for more investigation via xun.zhang@autodesk.com?

It is incorrect to me and please let me know how to reach you to make it out.

Thanks!

@Anonymous , there's no intended change in 2020 which modifies the behavior, from your attached .gif, it looks like the depth handling between the foreground and background is not good. If there's space between the foreground and background, I suspect this may also relate with Fade effect in Studio. It's better that you can share with us the dataset with Studio animations, so we can further investigate the problem.

Thanks very much for your support!

Hey,

I just send you ("xun.zhang@autodesk.com") a cropped version (I only cut out specific areas, the animation path is the same). The issue starts around 37 seconds. It does not matter what material you choose, Camera settings you edit or even what lightning style you choose. In fact, I left all settings to the standard in the beginning. In further versions and tests I created my own exposures of course - but the result remained the same.

Regards
Belia

Hey,

thank you for your reply. How can I share those files to you directly as well? (maybe an e-mail adress or sth. like this).

FYI.: The problem also occurs when there is no space between the two parts. But I liked the idea that the fade effect might be the one - but no - I removed it and set all parts to 100% visible and it still appears.

With best Regards

Belia

Hi Kevin

@Anonymous , thanks for sharing the dataset with us!

I took a look at the studio animations created for this dataset, starting from 12s, all the zoom value of the camera animations is set to a value lower than 1 deg which is an exception for Studio.

I’m not sure how this was generated, is this a legacy dataset? Do you have the original dataset?

As a workaround, I suggest that you reupdate the Zoom value to meaningful ones for the animations starting from 12s.

BTW, I don’t recommend you simply changing all the exceptional value into 1deg, which means continuously zoom out the model to very very tiny one, and as long as you zoom all again, the problem will happen.

Thanks,

Hey Lisa,

I created a new .asm with a >45° camera and recreated all the animation. Finally it worked, thank you!

FYI: The <1° was created by adding a new camera and set it to displayed view. Donny why but the resulting camera has <1° at current inventor settings (maybe it's my monitor resolution, which is 11,520 x 2160).

With best regards

Belia
