HI , i am trying to place (assemble) a round object in between 4 pillars on a horizontal surface, can anyone help which constraints i can use to fit it right in the centre of those 4 pillars?

regards

I would use a Mate and a Tangent constraint (judging from your picture).

If you want precise solution - Attach your assembly here.

Depending on how you have created your tube, if you have planes going down the center, you could constrain the plane that goes the length with the plane that hopefully goes down the length in the center,

then tangent the tube bottom to the plate and then the plane that cuts through the tube to the plane that cuts across the center of the plate. What I am suggesting is simple, but it all depends on your design intent.

Hope this makes sense.

Select Ground and Root from the productivity tab, check the ground at origin box, then select your base plate. This locks your base plate to the origin of the assembly. Then (using the work features in each part's Origin folder) constrain the X axis of the casing to the XZ plane of the base plate. If you want to clock the position of the casing, select the angle constraint and use the origin planes of each part and assign the relative angle.

Your threaded holes are the wrong size.

What is the tap-drill size for an M15 thread?

What will happen if you attempt to assembly an M15 fastener into a 15mm drilled hole?

Hi Jeffrey;

Besides - while M15 thread is listed in the Thread DB in Inventor - I yet to see fasteners with M15 thread. Be it normal pitch or a fine one.

Cheers,

Dear JD Mather

It is just a school project and i am not going to build it without the mechanical workshop consultation, so the basics of Inventor will be more than enough for me at the moment.

Thanks for your reply.

regards
