There's a user machine that is having major issues with Inventor. The only thing that has changed from last night is a Windows update.

Inventor is crashing when trying to update a model with frame parts in it.

The following errors also keep popping up (see below). I've never seen this "Error loading segment AmAppSegment in database". Any clues as to what this can be? Any clues for a solution?

This is impacting a large master assembly that is due to the customer tomorrow. The master assembly was complete, and was being edited today for minor redlines, before being sent to the customer. Now it's looking like it'll have to be rebuilt.

Hi! The error message indicates the Inventor files are probably corrupted. Certain segments cannot be loaded properly. Do you have backup copies? Or, you can go to \OldVersions\ folder to find the last saved copies.

I cannot explain why the files become corrupted after Windows Update. It does not make sense to me. There should be something else happening behind the scene. Please install 2020.1 update. If you can find a way to reproduce the corruption, please let us know asap.

Many thanks!

Hi @lance_stevens2

As @johnsonshiue said the files might be corrupted and there are really few things that can be done.

I take the chance to invite you to have always a solid backup system in place, that's very important.

Here are some technical articles about similar issues:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Error-Error-loading-segment-PmDCSegment-in-database-when-opening-a-model-in-Inventor.html

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Error-Error-loading-segment-PmBRepSegment-only-in-Inventor-2019-2-in-German-OS.html

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Inventor-2018-shows-an-error-Error-loading-segment-AmBREPSegment-in-database-when-opening-files.html

I hope it makes sense

Hi Alberto,

On top of what Sergio already mentioned, look into the following option and make sure it is unchecked.

Control Panel -> Clock and Region -> Region -> Administrative -> Change System Locale -> uncheck "Beta: Use UTF-8 Unicode for worldwide language support."

Many thanks!

Hi Nicola,

Unfortunately, I am also clueless at this moment. Are you able to reproduce it from scratch? Where do you store your files? Are there multiple users editing the same files on the shared drive?

Many thanks!
