What would stop a part from moving in the assembly tree?

Hi all, What would stop a part from being moved around in an assembly tree and subsequently dropped into a sub assembly? It will not budge up or down. There are no constraints on it nor is it adaptive. It did come from the content center but there are other content center parts in the assembly and they move around with ease. There is no Demote or Promote option available on the part. I can just put it in the new assembly from the file but this behavior seems odd.

One thing would be how it is constrained. If there is a constraint that links it to something that is below it it can't move, and should give you the "NOT" symbol in the process of trying.

I don't deal with any tubing or piping from generator stuff (which I think this application is), but "design tools" generated parts (frame generator and bolted connection) stuff can't just be dragged into sub assemblies, so I would assume the tubing and piping tools work the same.

Bolted connections I believe are basically stuck where you put them unless you copy the assembly and re-insert it. Frame generator parts, you must use the "Demote Frame Generator Components" tool in order to move them to a sub-assembly.........even after you already have an existing frame generator sub-assembly (which is pretty annoying). For as long as the design assistant tools have been around, they are still pretty clunky and cumbersome to work with. (I've been using Inventor for about 14-15 years, so I feel my criticism is a reasonable one).

There are no constraints as said in the original write up. No this is just Inventor with a fitting from the content center and the pipe is done the old fashioned way of sweeping a profile along a 3D sketch so it is just a standard part. There is no demote promote option available when I click on the component. As far as a frame generator goes I have no idea what that is. I come from many years of using these peoples competition and I am having to learn Inventor as I go.

Maybe you just need to restart your PC? Or Inventor.

@CamperUnhappy hit the nail on the head regarding this matter but let me explain the reason behind it and how to get around it.

When any piping component is placed into an assembly (even non-routed system models) and the browser icon is the bluish piping tee, those content center components are under the control of the routed system module add-in even when the model has nothing to do with routed systems. So that means those piping component abide the rules of that module which means they can't be promoted or demoted. If you intend not to use routed system tools in this model or other models you can unload the behavior of the routed system module (add-in manager) and restart Inventor and those components when placed into your model become just normal content center icons that will allow you to promote and demote.

Dear Mark Lancaster: I got the similar problem and I found it works when I added new part from content center. But the previous one which already put it the assembly still keep as being controlled by routed system and can not demote or promote. Do you have any ideas about how to update these previous ones into normal content center icons and can demote?
