inventor imports a 3d models in inches when they should be mm

i have a part i want to import but when i do, inventor does it in inches so instead of the length being 250mm, it imports to 250 inches. how do i change it to mm so onventor changes the size and not just how the units are displayed? the file type says it is a 3d model from third party.

Welcome to the forum.

After importing it, you can change the units as I show below.

Changing document units AFTER import will not change geometry size.

Direct Edit>Scale.

i have tried that but that is only to change the unit measured in. lets say the part is supposed to be 200mm long, it is imported as 200 inches. i need the part to not only measure in mm but also change the current properties as mm. hope it makes sense.

Press the options button before opening it..
