Stop changing Section from projected to aligned!

Hi,

I prefer to have sections as Projection so I set this type (by the way, it should be an option in drawing settings to select as a permanent setting!). When changing the cross section defining sketch Inventor switches the section to Aligned, WHY? Aligned type of representation is not very used.

Please fix this! and please make Edit View dialogue box smart enough to recognize that the view is a section and then to show in the same box the options which are now in Section Properties dialogue box. If the Edit View cannot be made smart then just add Section Properties to Edit View (a new tab). It would be nice to have things in one place instead of looking for them in different places.

I fully agree with that.

Here in Switzerland, we have 2 main types of industries using the opposite type of Section, but the most used is "projected". By far.

And anyway, I never understood either these configuration windows and the lack of options for that.

Which version of Inventor?

When i make a section view in IV2018 it is projected by default when it's straight through the part, if it's multi-directional i get the option to set it aligned or projected. (this defaults to aligned, so i guess that's what you meant for a permanent setting.)

When i edit the multi-directional section line it remains projected if i set it to that, so i'm not seeing a change back to aligned.

I do agree that it would be nice if the section properties were part of the edit view dialog instead of having to right-click on the section line to get to them.

That might be worth putting up an idea for on the Ideas board, i'd vote for that.

I am sorry if I misunderstood this case. I understand every word you put down here and I know the workflows. But, I cannot seem to find a way to reproduce the behavior. Could you share an example?

Hi all,

I also have this problem and it is extremely annoying because it also loses the reference for some dimensions.

The problem occurs when editing an existing sketch of a section line in a drawing and pull the lines. I edited two drawings today and this happened every time. It cost me some time until I figured out what happeden and how I can correct the issue.

Is there a reason why this happens? Can this be prevented?
