Renaming Part Number & Description By Batch in .iam File

I am facing issue to renaming the .ipt files in .iam file.

For example, Assembly6.iam consist of Assembly5.iam and PART2.ipt.

I would like to rename all the part number and description of .ipt files and .iam file by batch according to naming below:

How could I do to change the part number and description by batch?

Hi, first of all it's impossible to do from what you attached because they are just assemblies, we would need the parts as well.

The best way to do this is to use rename in Vault, but if you are not using there a re a couple of not as good ways to do this.

Design Assistant (separate from main Inventor program but should be already installed) will allow changes, but I'm not sure if you can change the file name in here.
You can use the copy or mirror command and rename them in there. I think maybe even Derive might let you.
iLogic design copy will let you add a prefix or suffix.

By the way, the last 3 items look like content center parts. I wouldn't recommend renaming these as they are part of a library.

Renaming files is one of the main purposes of Design Assistant, so that is not a problem. The actual issue with using it for @phongws's request is that the Description property isn't one of the columns available in Design Assistant.

Once the files have been renamed, then the descriptions can be done from the Bill of materials of the upper most assembly or any sub-assembly. Add the Description or title fields to the Bill of materials. Then you can get that "birds eye view" of all your component descriptions. Adding this to the model data tab will allow you to expand sub-assemblies to reveal their descriptions or titles. Hope that helps.
