I am trying to open assembly(in Inventor 2019.3 ) whose file version is 2013 and it has piece part(as reference) whose file version is 2019.3.(project file is selected prior to opening of the assembly)

Although the file is present, inventor shows the resolve link window and navigates to the folder where the file is present but not able to establish the link between the assembly and the part.

What could be the reason ?

Hi! I don't think this is related to Team Center or Vault. Inventor fails to resolve to the file because it cannot open it. I cannot explain the behavior unless you can share an example.

Hi! I am not seeing an issue with the files you attached. Do you use Inventor Project? You did not include an ipj file in the attachment. I created one project pointing to the folder where the files were. I was able to open 0252-71259_REV_1.iam without any prompt. SHCS M8x50.ipt resolved correctly.

The files are saved in mixed releases. 0252-71259_REV_1.iam was saved in 2013. And, a subassembly was saved in 2017. SHCS M8x50.ipt was saved in 2019.

What release of Inventor are you running?

Many thanks!

Hi! I think I see the confusion now. The unresolve behavior is due to the fact that the Project Library path settings are not set correctly. Library files are usually stored in a place outside of Project Workspace. When you relocate the library path, you need to remap them properly in Project -> Libraries. Otherwise it will not work. Also, you should change file path outside of Vault. Or, Vault will have trouble finding those files.

After remapping the library path, Inventor should be able to find the files if they are in the search paths.

Many thanks!

Hi! The project file that works with your dataset is pretty simple. Basically, you need to define the Workspace at the level where all sub folders are included. Inventor should be able to find the files within the project cone.

What you might have done was altering the Library folder path on disc without properly mapping back to the Library path settings in the project file.

Many thanks!

Hey Thank You John..

I found that the project file had wrong library path for one of the libraries after correcting that, most of the invalid issues got resolved..

can you just check the project file settings.

I am attaching the project file and snapshot of the work space with sub folders inside it. Please let me know if the mapping is correctly done.

Hi! Yes, it should work. The only change I would make is to the Workspace setting. In your case, it should point to "Projects" folder. In this way, you have clear separation of Libraries and Workspace.

Many thanks!

Hi all,

I have a bit different issue than the above written. I think the mistake I've done is that I've copy-pasted parts from an other assembly to mine, but that other assembly is also in the project folder. When I try to open the assembly Inventor offers me to resolve a link, but it looks for a #data.ipt file. (Picture attached). It doesn't care what .ipt file I try to open, I get always the same error message and I can't resolve my assembly. Can someone help me with this?

Many thanks.
