I did want intersection I did not realize it was set to Vertex Witch actually makes it a bit worse. What I am trying to achieve is a smaller sized relief hole. What were a trying to do is we want the relief hole radius to be the same as the thickness of the material we are bending. Also keeping the inside bend radius the same as the material thickness as well. We would like to run this formula across the board for all of our materiel thicknesses.

So on the attached sample part I would like to do a .036 bend radius with a .072 dia relief size in the corners and keeping the miter gap to .001 basically nothing.

But when you input those numbers it dose not give you a nice circle on the solid. if you increase the relief hole to .120 it will give you a nice hole but that is to large.

My main reason for trying to get inventor to do what I want is so I dont have to go and edit it in AutoCAD as a 2d part before it goes to the laser cutter.

And maybe this is all out of the specs of what inventor is set up to do.

Zip and Attach your file here if you can't figure it out.

But it appears to me that you already have as small as the fillet, so logically, it could not possibly be smaller.

Is it your intention to change the shape of that corner?

Does the design require Round Corner Relief, or can it be Tear?

Also, are you aware that there is a "strange" arc in your Sketch1 and that Sketch8 is "sick"?

That is the way our fabrication department wants it.

No i did not see the bad sketch this is a customers solid i am modifying the corners on.

But I do believe i have found a work around to get the results i want.

OK so I guess my results are not what they want.

Per the sample parts I attached.

So they want the hole radius relief to be the same as the mat thickness (20ga (.036) ) and the inside bend radius to be what the material is thickness(.036).

Question and maybe this is just not doable with inventor but the smallest hole relief i can get from it is a .050 radius. Witch I was wondering if there was a way to modify its formula it uses.

The thing is - I am reluctant to <STRIKE>touch</STRIKE> attach this part as the other sketches do not look logical to me.

I would expect those to be corrected before any other considerations.

I did get the relief to .036, but I would go back to the beginning and question everything else about this part.

JD

Did I miss something on the thread you were helping me with. You said (massage 13)you did get the corner relief to work the way I was wanting but you never did share how you did it. I know you were on me about issues with the solid and I understand that. Going in to this thread I did not know they were there because I do not go looking it over I just wanted to change the corner and move on with the project. I dont know if I made you mad over this whole deal but was not trying to. I did supply a new solid to use that was good as far as I could tell. But then every one just left me hanging.

Do mind helping with this corner deal because I really would like to know how you were able to modify the corner to my Specs

Thanks

     Matthew
