Hi! It's not a wrong input, it's functional in the part file and works how I intended it to. I think it's just a syntax error. If you want a crack at it tho, your help would be gladly appreciated! good luck. :3 (it doesn't seem to let me attach files...!)

Hi Forum!

I have assembled this grille below out of two blades, with the same model, but they'll be plasma cut to different lengths. the individual part files are fully parametric, I think. I have it so that the slots always make up half the width, and the greater the length, the number of slots increase, but the gaps between the slots are equal. The gaps from the bottom bar and the top bar are also equal to each other, whatever the length of the grille blade is.

My issue is that although the number of slots increase/decrease with the change in length of the blade, the pattern command in assembly doesn't fill those gaps with additional blades. This needs to scale both horizontally and vertically. There are over 300+ variations of this grill blade, all cut to different lengths, so i need to be able to create a model that scales with set dimensions.

Hey,

first of all there is the .xlsx file that you didn't upload and the parts that you upload are not the right ones.

Besides that the red font on your parameters is a syntax error. I believe you want 75 mm instead or 7,5, check the attaches and model work fine. Since you are working in the assembly and you are going to set the parameters there I will have to say that Xun Zhang was right. You need i-logic so you can connect the parameters of your parts to the parameters of the assembly. I found this tutorial really helpful if you want have a look and I hope it will help you.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0Mx_zm8eOM

Y.

Hi! There's a reason I didn't divide by 75. This is the reason.

I totally understand why you mentioned it, you'd assume 471.5/75 would give you aprox. 6-7. But you silly fool! 471.5/75 is of course, 1.00! idk haha. dividing by 7.5 was the only way i could make the parametrics function, and dividing by 75 still initially produced a syntax error. your guess is as good as mine. Thanks for the tutorial btw!

Read carefully(check the pict that i have upload), it is 75 mm not 75 ul. Since you want the result to be ul and your total length is mm you need to divided with mm in order to give you ul.
