Exclude Mark and/or features from derived part.

Hi,

I have a derived part which is the mirror version of the base part. Base part has a Mark to to identify it. Derived part obviously is not the same as the base part and it needs it's own marking. How to hide mark from the base part? would be nice to have an option to exclude features from the base part but I don't think there is in IV2024.

You can create a base without marking and multiple part files (including a variant with identical geometry) derived for marking.

You could try this instead of derive.

Create 2 model states for left and right.
For the mirrored version, use the mirror command and mirror solids removing original.

Also in this mirrored model state, suppress the mark feature. You can then add a new mark feature with the new ID.

Hi @IB55

you can alternatively use derive part method, combined with Model state,

1- in your base model create a new model state and activate it

2-In the newly created model state, select the mark feature and suppress it

3-open a new part, and use the derive command to derive the base part into

4- use the representation tap to select the model state you created above with mark feature supressed

and you can now add a new mark in the derived part

Thank you James for providing alternative workflow to achieve the same result using only Model State without derived parts.
