I have created a new specification for the 3D printing material acrylonitrile styrene acrylate (ASA) and have assigned it to a part using iProperties. All okay so far.

I create a new part and want to assign ASA to it but ASA does not appear in the active Materials Library.

How do I migrate the material I have specified to the library?

No migration needed. You simply need to save it to a material & appearance library. Materials and appearances work very much like styles: you define them in a document, then save from the document to a library, where they are available to other documents.

Procedure: open the Materials Browser (where you created the material in the first place); right click on the new material and click Add to > followed by your chosen M&A library.

Don't forget-- Inventor has a lot of commands, procedures, and tools that are accessed by right clicking on something (context menus). Don't be afraid to explore them!

Merry Christmas!

Scroll the upper section of your material browser, which is the list of materials in your part file (LK-01-001.ipt). When you find ASA in that list, right click on it and select Add to > PihanaDesignMaterials.
