Edit the read only styles for a drawing

Most of what I do in Inventor 2020 is import Autocad drawings from the office at work, cut and paste sections for production into new ipt parts, save them, then create new dwg files and annotate them with the desired dimensions etc. Every time though, I have to open styles editor and change the default dimension settings from decimal to fraction, and the degrees to 1 decimal place, then set the font size to 1/4"

How, if possible, can I change the defaults to these parameters so that every time I create a new dwg from an ipt I do not have to alter these settings?

Hi! This can be done very easily. You need to save the change in your drawing styles back to the library. Or, you can create your own style and save the change in the template without using the library styles.

#1, To save the change in styles back to the library. You need to make the library read-write. See the page below.

Then open a drawing with the updated styles and go to Manage -> Styles and Standards -> Save.

#2, To create your own styles, you can simply right-click on the standard/style you modified, make a copy, and rename it. These new standard/style do not have to exist in the library. You can save the drawing file as template.
