If you project model edge to sketch, once the feature is suppressed the sketch will fall.

Don't project from model, project from sketch.

If you can't project, create a sketch.

This has nothing to do with modelstate.

The single model will fail with same suppression.

I can't open 2024 file.

Hi Inventor Community!

As the thread title suggests, in Inventor 2024.2, I have a part (attached) that has 3 Model States:

Primary - Unmodified

For Standard Electrode - Modified to a specifc length and threaded

For Electrode Arrays - Modified to another specific length and threaded

The issue I'm having, is that when I use a any of these Model States, the sketches in the other model states produce errors for features that are suppressed (See attached Screen captures.). This, in turn, causes other "down stream" errors in some part geometries and constraint relationships - which is baffling to me.

This is the problem that I have with the way Inventor works. If you suppress geometry, the sketch that includes that geometry - if it isn't used by anything else - should also be suppressed, or have no effect on things not directly related to it.

Hi! This is actually not related to Model States. It is related to feature dependency. The Model States just make the behavior more apparent. The issue here is that the sketches depend on geometry created by certain upstream features. When such features are suppressed, the sketches have to remain suppressed.

To avoid such dependency, it is better to create work features not depending on geometry/features that could be suppressed. Each suppressing feature should be standalone..

Many thanks!

This being the case, I think it would have been nice to include this in the tutorial on Model States. I don't recall seeing or hearing anything about it.

Thanks for the input all the same @johnsonshiue .
