Hello

so this probable is not the correct way to do this but its what i

could think of

i added "preliminary" to my border is there any way i can turn it off or on using ilogic or some other way

i need to send out preliminary drawings to our salespeople but then when it gets approved i need to take the preliminary to be removed.. the only way i know how to do this is to start a new drawing sheet....

so this probable is not the correct way to do this but its what i could think of please help.. any help would be awesome

Hi @Anonymous

If you edit your border definition and add the preliminary text to a new layer called "preliminary" or something, then you can simply turn on/off that layer as needed, to display or hide the text.

Hi @Anonymous

maybe, but it's pretty straight forward...

You'd want to do this in your template file

To create a layer:

Go to the Annotate tab in the drawing and click the Edit Layers button
Click the New button at the top
Name your new layer something like "Prelim"
Optionally change the color of the layer, if you'd like
Click the Save and Close button

Now that you have this layer, edit your border:

In the Drawing Resources folder of the browser select the border and then right click and choose "Edit Definition"
In the border editing environment select all the pieces of text that say "preliminary"
Then with those selected go to the Annotate tab, and select your new prelim layer from the layer drop down menu (its the top drop down to the right of the Edit Layers button)
Then click the Finish Sketch and save the changes to your border

Save the template file (File > Save As > Save Copy As Template)

Now start a new file and test your border by going to the annotate tab and choosing the Prelim layer from the layer drop down, and use the "light bulb" icon to turn it on or off.

I can not believe it! A simple thing is jacked up to a massive issue!

What's wrong with just having a simple text saying "Preliminary" in a drawing template? Once it is not needed - just open the file and delete it. Or, if the user wants to go more complicated route - create a sketch symbol with that text.

Insert the symbol, when needed. Besides - the world "Preliminary" doesn't need to be put on the drawing more than once.

But wait - it is too simple. We need to get iLogic involved. Ore better yet - a third party add on. Than it will be a "professional" approach! LOL!

Now that is a good idea... I really never thought of that ... that is all I need to do really 100% did not thinks about now I feel stupid

You don't have to feel stupid. You are not the only one, who makes simple things over complicated, mind you.

My point was - keep it simple whatever you do. This approach will serve you well always.
