topic Content Center Nut Issues in Inventor Forum

Hi,

We are working with Inventor 2018 Professional, and the threads for the content center nuts are not working correctly. When we select a 1/4-20 nut, the hole is too small, and after further investigation, it is actually metric. If we try to place a larger nut, it has the same, small / metric threaded hole. The values within the family table look correct, so the best way I can explain this is that the CC part acts like it is not maintaining the link to it’s table etc. Has anyone ran into this before? Thank you in advance for any help and ideas.

Welcome to the forum.

So, what you are saying is the out of the box CC parts that are supposed to be English are actually metric?

If that is the case, that is just plane weird and strange!!🤑

If that is indeed the case, try using the Inventor Reset tool.

Hi! In additional to Scott's and JD's suggestions, you may need to install 2018.3 update followed by 2018.3.8 update. I suspect you are running Inventor 2018 without any update on Windows 10 build 1903 or later.

Many thanks!

Thank you for your response Scott. The CC on our end is not out of the box - we (none of us here are well versed with CC) have been saving copies of families so that we can rename etc. to fit our standards. We will take a look at the reset tool if the updates don't work. Thanks again!

Attached an .ipt file - we are expecting it to be 0.25 or close to it - when the file comes in, it is 1.6mm as the standard it is looking at is ANSI Metric M Profile...which is why we are led to believe we have a link problem. Thank you for your help.

To fix that particular one - simply right click on the Thread node, select Edit Feature and then change to correct size.

(Your screen will look different on older release.)

I think we got it. We recently adjusted our thread call outs from fractional (1/4-20) to decimal (0.25-20) as a requested update, and it looks like that is what was causing our "link" to be broken. Inventor (understandably so) does not recognize them as being the same, so the thread descriptions and designations within the table need to match the designation that is in the drop down in the model to be able recognize them.

Thank you all for your input!
