start up glitch with inventor

I am having troubles with accessing the home screen of my inventor programs and believe some files have been corrupted. is ther anything i can do to fix this?

Is this a new install that never worked

did it work for some time and now suddenly doesn't work for some reason?

I have had Inventor 2020 get stuck on "loading" like that multiple times. It was always when I had another instance of Inventor already running.

Is that repeatable for you or just every once in a while?

If repeatable you might try turning off addins one by one until you can find the one that may be triggering that.

Have you loaded the latest updates for Inventor?

Hi! It may be related to My Home page. Here is what you can try.

0) Close Inventor.

1) Go to File Explorer -> C:\Users\_your_login_\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Inventor 2020\.

2) Find UserApplicationOptions.xml. Make a copy of it.

3) Edit it in Notepad.

4) Add the following line right below <ApplicationOptions....>

5) Save the xml file.

6) Restart Inventor.

Does it work better now?

It did work before but when the glitch happened I just wiped my computer clean of any inventor trace and re-installed the application. now it works great with one small issue. all my assembly files have there original icons set to the design assistant icons. I thought that kinda wierd but at least the program works well now.

Your instructions are not clear.

Add the following line right below <ApplicationOptions....>

Is this a new file name? What is the purpose of adding the line "to what?"

And what .xml we suppose to save?

Hi Svetlana,

The prior reply applied to older Inventor releases (2021 and earlier). What release are you on? If you want to disable Home page, go to Tools -> App Options -> General -> uncheck "Show Home on startup" -> Ok. Then restart Inventor.
