It is easy to add an iProperty to the Design Assistant property display but it is not easy to add "unique" entries. Entry of the same value to the desired iProperty is easy but that is not what you want. Take a look at the Screencast to see how to add an iProperty to the display. I believe a custom iLogic routine that you can run against an assembly will be your best bet.

Good day,

I have a custom iProperty which indicates an ID for every part in an assembly. It is purely a housekeeping number and has nothing to do with Part Numbers, Stock Numbers, etc. more like a fixed Item Number or Mark Number. It is difficult to have these populated by the modellers or designers as they create the parts as each should be a unique number for each part / assembly.

Therefor my option is to have a custom iProperty that is part of the 3D model already but with a blank placeholder initially - got this sorted through an external rule. However, the tricky bit is to assign these numbers. My thought is to open the assemblies in Design Assistant and just enter the numbers in the column for the property. However I cannot find a way to edit custom properties using Design Assistant.

Any thoughts on this? Firstly, is it possible to edit custom iProperties using DA? If not, then is there a way to edit custom properties in bulk but with individual entries? This will include parts generated through Frame Gen as well as inserted from Content Centre as custom parts.

Regards

Kobus
