how to determine in which version an Inventor file was saved

Usually I use the iProperties -> Details to get the information, in which Inventor version a file was saved.

Unfortunately often (too often) the appropriate fields are empty.

Is there another, a more stable way to get the wished information?

The empty fields depend on the last Inventor version, that's been used on your computer.

If Inventor 2021 was used, you'll always see infos about the file version.

But if 2018 was last used, you won't see infos about 2019, 2020 or 2021 files.

I could think of placing file infos at My Home, but ...

You can find the last saved when you're opening it

In the popup when opening and on the home page file details

FYI:

In addition, I have now found out: regardless of the last used Inventor version, even a Design Assistant provides the desired information, if it is not an older version than the file to be checked. (That means: Last opened Inventor was e.g. Inventor 2019. Using the Design Assistant 2021 can check all files up to 2021).

I guess, this will be my most used workflow in the future.

Interesting observation, this hint in File Open dialog, Mike. I didn't notice that until now.

One more change: I can open a 2020 IAM in 2017, without any message. It's loaded into a new top-level IAM, and shows browser structure, but the screen is left blank.

Is there any way I can view what version of Inventor every file in an assembly was last saved in?
Could this be added to the BOM?

To see what files need migrating.

I think I was getting another error related to this. I was thinking that I could not check something into the Vault because it needed migrating/was dirty. So how do I find out which specific files need migrating?

(Turns out, I think my specific problem right now has to do with duplicate filenames in library files: Re: One or more documents have been modified but Save was unsuccessful. You must save the document p... - Autodesk Community - Vault).

I would look at the task scheduler .. something like an Open and Safe and close MCD
