Shape generator Analysis fail (2021)

Can you help me to understand why it fails?

The file was created in previous versions, than migrated.

I presume that if i remodel it from scratch I would have no problms..

Actually it fails from scratch too.

And with most of other fails that worked in the past.

Am I missing something?

Do you have the same issue?

Hi Matteo,

I am not seeing the defective behavior on 2021. When I opened the file on my machine, Inventor prompted me for the .fin file (FEA result). I just skipped it. I am able to run the ShapeGen without a problem. I suspect .fin might be corrupted. You may want to delete the .fin file.

so the problem is on my side. I see that it's not related to the file, here I do a study from scratch.

Any idea how I can fix it?

I really don't understand.

Same file, same settings, all updates done.

2017, no problems

With 2020, no results:

With 2021 no reults:

With 2020 and 2021 I can realize successful analysis, but no clue why , randomly it fails.

Is it possible you have Inventor NASTRAN installed? If you disable the Add-In, does it work on 2020 and 2021?

Brilliant @johnsonshiue !

Indeed I have Nastran in CAD installed in 2020 and 2021.

We are getting closer.

After unload Nastran in CAd in 2020 and 2021:

-2020 Shape Generator it 's working again fully, no problems. Works greats with every file.

-2021 still no results (same files), even if Nastran i s unloaded.

Does NASTRAN itself work? Can you create a quick study, mesh & solve it in both 2020 & 2021?

here a global summary:

With Inventor 2020 (Build 373, Release 2020.3):

-Inventor Static Stress analysis >> Completed, no problem (mesh and results)

-Inventor Shape Generator analysis >> Completed, no problem (mesh and results)

-Nastran in CAD Static Linear analysis >> Completed. no problem (mesh and results)

With Inventor 2021 (Build 183, Release 2021):

-Inventor Static Stress analysis >> Completed, no problem (mesh and results)

-Inventor Shape Generator analysis >> ISSUE (mesh completed but NO RESULTS)

-Nastran in CAD Static Linear analysis >> Completed, no problem (mesh and results)

Attached the file (but the same for all the files)

Thanks for these - this shows that it's not a licensing issue as I was assuming it might be...

Does it work if you ustart Inventor using Run as Administrator ?

Any log files of use in %temp% ?

Hi.
Is there a solution to this problem in the meantime?
I have absolutely the same problem in Inventor 2020.3.4.

The shape generator stops after a few seconds of calculation without any result...

I didn't install anything other than Windows Defender, the standard-AntiVirus software in Windows 10.

I do not work for a company, I am a teacher at a school (Higher technical college) in Austria!

Please follow the steps.

Download RegistryFEACS.zip which I attached to this message.
Unzip and run RegistryFEACS.reg (this will create in your registry following folders \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\Simulation\RegistryFEACS)
Run the Shape Generator.
When the calculation is finished go to: c:\Users\<user_account_name>\AppData\Local\Temp\<a single number>
In this folder (in my computer is "1") you should find the following files: FEAComputeServer*.log.
Please send this file to us.
After you get this file delete the Simulation folder from \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\ in your registry (to run registry type "REGEDIT" in windows search)

Hi.

As I said, I had problems with version 2020.3.4.

A few days ago I have updated to version 2021, and I haven't had any problems so far...
To be honest, I don't want to make changes to my registry.
I would get back to you if the problem occurs again!
