Another option..

Even AutoCAD (vanilla) can convert PDF to DWG and then use the ANYCAD interface and project DWG geometry in your part file.

Also keep in mind the PDF you use to be converted to a DWG in AutoCAD products must not be scanned or an older PDF version/format.

I had a drawing sent to me deliberately with missing dimesion. Is there any way to make a most precise estimation by tracing the pdf file? I’ve attach the file here.

should i trace it in autocad instead? Though i would very much prefer to do so in inventor

You can create picture from this PDF and insert it to part and scale it by using line and dimension tool.
Here you can find recorded solution:

Hi! I thought you could measure in PDF. Also, what is the reason why dimensions were not given? Without dimensions, how do you recreate the part? Or, you are not supposed to know the dimensions?

Many thanks!

Here's how I handle these, esp. when they have spline type curves:
1. Export the pdf into a pixel file

2. Bring the pixel file into a 'paint' program, convert it to VECTOR format, and export as dwg or dxf

3. Import that dwg/dxf file into an Inventor sketch

4. Make sure it's scaled correctly

5. Use Inventor sketch tools to 'scrub' your SKETCH.

You know the rest of it ...

Autocad mechanical will import a pdf file and convert it into dwg which you can then bring straight into an Inventor sketch to reuse.

Unless the pdf drawing is an image as it is in this case. 😞

Mike
