Hi Nigel,

The behavior does not look right to me. If you hide all parts in the assembly, does the washer stay unsectioned? What about the other washers? Please share the example here. I would like to understand the behavior better.

Many thanks!

I know that content centre parts don't usually section in a drawing view but, on this occasion, I want to show the clearance in the bore. The washer highlighted in the attached image would originally have been a content centre part which was then 'saved as' in order to put it into our company part number structure.

If I open the washer & go to 'Tools, Document Settings, Modeling', the 'Participate in Assembly & Drawing Sections' box is ticked.

In the drawing, if I right click the washer in the browser & select 'Section participation', 'Section' is ticked but the washer still does not show as sectioned in any of the drawing views.

Am I missing something here?

The only thing that comes to mind, and is often done by mistake, you are clicking on the wrong instance of the washer in the Drawing Browser. You must expand the assembly under the Section View and add the section participation there.

I was careful to do that. In this particular assembly, there is only 1 washer of that type which is inserted twice, then patterned with other components.

I must be missing a step or two. It seems to work for me. Those washers did not participate in sectioning. Then I change the setting to "Sectioned" and they are sectioned correctly. Please take a look at the drawing.

Nigel, looking at the screenshot you posted you are showing that you are changing the section participation in the detail view and not in the section view itself. Expand the model under the section view and make the change to section participation and not the model under the detail view.

That may be the issue you have.

Mike

Hi

Strange. I used your data set and your drawing and it works for me. Mike is correct in his observation, change the Section option in the section view.

Try this.

Press and hold Shift, then Right click.
