Hi! I assume those files were in the library, right? If you want a complete independent set, make sure you check the option to include Library components in Pack&Go dialog.

Many thanks!

You have to select a project file which was created by P&G and make it active. Better yet - before that - move the whole folder in a completely different location on your computer.

Cheers,

I performed the below steps.

1. Copied folder: Standard 36w 24d 30h to folder, TEST.
2. Within Inventor 2020 open drawing file Housing 36w 24d 30h. Where that file is located in folder TEST.
3. Select File/Save As/Pack and Go
4. Within Pack and Go window browse Destination Folder/Make New Folder. DESTINATION is the name of the new folder.
5. Within Pack and Go window: Options - Copy to Single Path, Collect Work Groups
6. Select Search Now
7. Select Start
8. Close drawing file.
9. Open drawing Housing 36w 24d 30h within folder DESTINATION.
10.Open assembly Housing 36w 24d 30h as associated with view drawing in step 9.
11.Right click part in assembly, select iProperties. The location of the file is not folder TEST and it is not folder DESTINATION. The part's location is the original as noted in step 1.

I expected a Pack and Go would create assemblies with parts referenced within folder DESTINATION.
Is it expected that I use Design Assistant with the drawing in folder DESTINATION and associate the assembly and the assembly's components to components with folder DESTINATION?

You didn't follow the simple instruction I gave to you. Please read in Help file what Project file (*.ipj) in Inventor is for.

Best Regards,

@tgbohrer As mentioned by Igor before you open any of these new files in the pack and go location you need to close any open Inventor files and change your project file to the new one created as part of the pack and go process.

Currently you are keeping the same project file which causes Inventor to look at the original file location and not the new pack and go location.

Here is how you change the active project file in Inventor

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2020/ENU/Inventor-Help/files/GUID-34126F60-3093-4144-8AA5-809B4D35DCA1-htm.html

You are correct: Selecting the Project File DESTINATION.ipj caused the folder references in the source file to change to DESTINATION folder.

Confusion for me resulted from reading "find referenced files (box title) above Project File. I thought Pack and Go did its looking based upon that information and not its writing.
I additionally scanned through Help under project files. Even with knowing your answer, help (to me) did not clue me in to your method.
Thank you for the help.

Glad you have worked it out eventually.

And yes, I agree with you. The Inventor Help file in its current stage is next to useless. I can't recall when was it last time I got an answer I am looking for in the Help file. Perhaps - when I was still using IV2010.

Cheers,
