Hi all

i am working on an metal enclosure, and i want to test it in a pressure simulation.
but i am not shure that i do it correctly.
my enclosure needs to withstand and internal chok pressure, so i have tried to make an stress analysis, where i apply pressure on all surfaces from the center where the chok will originate in real life.
but i am not shure that this is the right way.
anybody in here that have worked with this problem before that can guide me to the right path

Hi! I think you need to simplify the model. The fillets should be removed. The tiny holes can be ignored. Some detail geometry is not going to change the stress result much. But, their existence can cause a lot of trouble to the FEA solve.

You can use Delete Face -> Heal (3D Model -> Modify -> expand it) to remove the detail geometry.

Many thanks!

the problem for the model is that it cant be made more simple due to what i need to put inside and then the restriktions the enclosure needs to live by in production.
if it is made as a simple chamber i run into a lot of different problems, because the size must not be to big, because the inner volume has to be below a certain amount and then we need to have a lot of electrical components in as well.
so it had to be build around the electric components, and then outside shaped so it is more geometric to look at.
it is a problematic model but it must be able to contain a possible gas explosion.

The simplification that Johnson is referring to is only for the purpose of the FEA and not the final design of your product. In your image you can see there is an embossed earthing point symbol; this is one of those details that should be removed from the model for the FEA since it increases the complexity of the mesh but will offer no structural integrity to the model. The same goes for small holes and other small features. If you share a model here, people will help you sort it out.

Mike

okay that makes sense.
i have just worked it out as the product should look and then tried to apply the pressure.
but yes i can see that all these small features dont really do anything for the structure calculation, but the program will try to include them because they are on the drawing.
then i think i`m on the right track, i have just not worked that much with the pressure feature, and then we were trying to add the pressure at this stage of the development.
but thanks for the feedback, this i a big try and error process for us, because it is the first product we are designing from scratch, so there are a lot of new stuff fore us.
