I agree, I definitely need to learn more about how to create a material. Especially regarding the understanding of all the criteria that needs to be stated in the material creation tab.

Well I think in that case I will just see what material is the same or similar to EN24 and work with it from there.

Thanks

Hi Guys,

I need to assign a material to an object that I have made but the Inventor library does not have it, the specific material is EN24 steel. How would I work around this?

Thanks

If you have another part that does have the material you can copy it into your new part. You could also create a custom library and create the material yourself. What is different about the EN24 steel that you need?

This will be the first time that I am using this material so unfortunately can't copy and paste.

I tried making a custom material in inventor, but unfortunately I'm not able to understand too many of the technical details that have to be filled in to actually fill it in.

This material will be used to machine a spindle of sorts to be used in a drilling machine. So from what I understand EN 24 steel is being used because of its machinability.

If you don't have the material already, then I would suggest learning how to create one if you really need it.

For the most part steel is steel unless you are trying to do some analysis on it. The weight is pretty consistent across different steel types and that's usually what we are most concerned about with regards to material. It's when you get into the physical properties of the steel that things can differ quite a bit, but if you can find the properties of your specific steel then I'm willing to bet that one of the materials already in the library will be close enough or maybe even the same.
