Which template does Inventor take when drag'n'drop step file to empty window?

Hi all

I have a question about importing step files to Inventor.

So I know that I can import it when I first choose a template, this template has our user parameters in it. This way though Inventor doesen't take over the filename of the step file when saving it. Instead it saves it as "AssemblyX.iam".

And if I use the import option I don't know which template it takes.

But if I minimize all windows so that the screen/window is empty and then drag'n'drop the step file, then it takes over the .step filename.

My question now is which template does Inventor take by importing whith drag'n'drop. Because i couldn't figure out. I would like to add user parameters, forms and rules to that template.

Hope someone knows thar or maybe is there a better way to achieve this?

Basically I want Inventor to save the .iam whith the .step filename in custom template with our user parameters, rules and forms in it.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe it uses the default template stored in C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor <Version>\Templates\en-US. It might also use a file in your template folder in the application options or project file as long as you have a template named "Standard".

Standard.ipt, Standard.iam in your Template path.

If they're not there, IV will use a internal copy.
