When you right click on the title in the browser bar (is this the right name?) of a ipt or iam drawing and click on open drawing,
the existing drawing (idw) for that component (ipt or iam) automatically opens if it has the same file name.
Is there a way of linking the .ipt or .iam to the .idw if their file names are not the same?

Mike Kovacik

Inventor Pro 2020, Vault Pro 2020

South Africa

Not sure if it is possible at all.

Have been working with Vault the last 15 years, so I am not very familiar with non-Vault workflows anymore.

Torbjørn

Thanks

I am the opposite, I have been working without vault for the last 10 years, now I am working with it.

So it was just a question out of interest.

If anyone else, that doesn't work with vault, knows, I would be interested.

Autodesk, you should know, maybe you can tell me

Mike

Thanks

I am using vault now for the first time, so that works perfectly.

Just out of interest, if you were not using vault, as I was previously,

how would you do it, if the 2 file names were not the same

Mike

That functionality is hard coded to only look for a file in the same folder with the same name.

There is no way to have that work if they aren't the same.. Most have decided that same name/same folder is best practice so it works that way..
