Hi Dave (@riedeld5696)

Thanks for reporting this issue and we apologize for the inconvenience.

In 2018, we did show the view cube when editing a broken view, but the break was automatically deleted during preview and on finalize (hitting ok), we deleted all breaks from the view being edited and its downstream dependent views.

In 2019, we blocked the view cube from showing on the screen when you edit a broken view because of problems with preview as well as to some extent, blowing away all the breaks automatically.

However, I can see the pain-point here of having to delete the break first, and then launching edit view. We ought to be able to delete the breaks automatically (just like 2018) and potentially inform users that their breaks may be deleted (with perhaps a Yes/No prompt).

We will definitely look into the feasibility and see if there is an easy way to do this without causing much heartburn. I have created a new issue to track this: INVGEN-43172.

Thank you for your patience and apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Manipulation of drawing views in Inventor 2021 drawing environment.

Hello. Recently Upgraded from 2018 to 2021 Inventor

In 2018 I was able to edit a drawing view or a flat or formed sheet metal part that was broken horizontally

or vertically with the editing cube and direction arrows. Now, in 2021 there is no way to manipulate the view other than

the limited options in the dialog box or through the "rotate" function in the right-click menu screen. This is very cumbersome. Now, I have to unbreak the view rotate it and break it again. This is a big bug in my book. Has this already been resolved with a patch?

Also, I'm using the dark mode environment which I really like. I am having a problem though which may be related to it or not, but I am constantly losing part and assembly file tabs from my task bar which magically detach and end up all over my monitor. There is no way to reattach them or restore them. They end up covering everything when maximized. I have to drag the file to where I can see the close button, just to get it out of the way, and then reopen it. This happens a lot. I'm using windows 10. IBM

Hi! I could be wrong but I am not aware of a behavioral change here. I am surprised that what worked in 2018 no longer works in 2021. Did you click on the ViewCube and the arrow button to do custom view orientation?

Please share an example that exhibits the behavior. I would like to understand it better.

Many thanks!

Do you still have 2018 to show what you're trying to do?

or maybe make a screencast video in 2021 and show what you're trying to do.

Maybe one of use can try it in 2018 and 2021 if you don't have 2018 anymore to show it

Hello,

Thanks for the reply.

When right-clicking on the view and choosing edit view, only the dialog box appears and no view cube.

It doesn't matter if it is in flat pattern or formed view. One the view is broken, the view cube disappears.

Thanks for your help with this.

Dave

I captured broken and unbroken snippets of both scenarios. In the broken view the View Cube is no where to be found.

Thanks again.

Dave
