Incompatible Units Error

I think I know why this is occurring, just not sure how to resolve or work around.

Scenario:

We have an assembly of parts used to mount a light fixture.

This assembly includes the fixture, bulb, mounting bracket, hardware, conduit and fittings.

We have given this assembly a specific PART NUMBER and STOCK NUMBER which are used in our ERP software, and is ordered as a single item.

The assembly can be installed in two configurations, right hand or left hand.

A derived part for each configuration was created from the assembly, with the PART NUMBER and STOCK NUMBER identical in each part. (LH version being mirrored about one of the planes.)

Issue:

Parts list acts normal until merged by PART NUMBER.

When an installation requires both versions of the assembly, we get an INCOMPAITBLE UNITS error in the Parts List when merged.

I'm guessing that Inventor sees these derived parts as two separate items even though they have the same PART NUMBER & STOCK NUMBER, thus throws the INCOMPATIBLE UNTIS error.

Any suggestions, tips or work arounds would be appreciated as we have several assemblies like this that can be put together in multiple configurations using the identical parts.

Hi! I cannot reproduce it on my machine. As long as Base units are the same, the quantity should be computed correctly. Incompatible errors only appear when the two Base units are different. I need to see an example if it behaves otherwise. Check Doc Settings -> BOM -> Base Unit for each part and make sure they have the same unit.

Please send the files to me directly johnson.shiue@autodesk.com.
