Paul,

Check out these YouTube videos below on creating iParts and iAssemblies. I've also added a video that shows you how to create iMates as well. These will help you with exactly what you need!

<LI-CODE lang="general">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHolDSVKU8M</LI-CODE><LI-CODE lang="general">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxcXjrpA5pk</LI-CODE>

I am looking to produce some models, mainly visual for sales & marketing purposes, for a range of fabricated tanks.

The tanks are circular and made up of corrugated & rolled sheets the number of which vary depending on the diameter of the tank.

Some of them also have roofs which are essentially a 10 deg cone made from trapezoidal segments, again the length and number off is dependent on the the diameter of the tank.

I am looking to produce a intelligent model that can be driven by inputting various parameters to produce a wide range of visual representations of the may option of tanks available.

Could anyone point me in the right direction to achieve this, I am working with Inventor 2021 Professional .

Many thanks,

Paul

I've seen things like this done with iLogic and forms.

Hi! Yes, iLogic will help you create such variations easily. The workflow is like this. You create an assembly per on spec. Then you can use iLogic rules to drive parameters at any level within the assembly. For the next variation, you can simply use iLogic Design Copy to clone the files as the new varation. Then you can drive parameters.

Many thanks!

Hi Paul,

You can either use iPart/iAssembly or iLogic to create configurable products.

This course in LinkedIn learning gave me an outlook of how to proceed.

https://www.linkedin.com/learning/autodesk-inventor-configurable-designs-and-automation

This video is a great resource if you are moving forward with iLogic

https://youtu.be/oGSV256IV98

And always, Autodesk University has many classes that will help you.
