Inventor 2021.1 Update is here

I'm happy to share that Inventor 2021.1 update has been release today. Check your Autodesk Account or the Autodesk Desktop App for your update.

As many of you know these point releases include fixing issues but also add customer driven enhancements so be sure to check out the What's New and Release Notes for more details.

@garin , I installed this update this morning, and now Inventor crashes every time I try to launch. Please help find a solution to this.

I was running Inventor 2021 and Vault Pro 2021 with the SBS SDS toolkits

Sorry to ask, but did you reboot after installing 2021.1 ?

Any crashing if you unload the SDS software?

I did do a reboot. I have not tried unloading the SDS software. If at all possible I'd like to keep it on as we use it heavily within Inventor. For now I have uninstalled and reinstalled Inventor and not installed the new update. This at least gets Inventor working again.

Adjust Appearance is almost impossibly slow with 3DConnexion Space Navigator (I haven't tried with Inventor view manipulation tools) in 2021.1 but is buttery smooth in 2020.3

Try picking up the expanded appearance with the eyedropper and then dropping the appearance on other faces with the paint bucket. (see Attached file)

We updated yesterday at my office and many of the engineers are reporting Inventor keeps crashing since this update - I'm experiencing the same unfortunately and keep losing my work.

Thanks everybody for the feedback. We are looking into the issue now to see what is going on, it's not something that we ran into during the beta so we are trying to discover the cause. If you have reproducible models or steps please pass them our way.

If you see crashing on startup with 2021.1 then a couple of things to try:

Unload any non-Autodesk addins,
Disable MyHome on startup (from Tools, App Options, General tab).

It would be good to know which specific addins are unloaded to resolve this.

Mine would not stay open long enough for me to change any settings or unload any add-ins. It would crash before the home page would show up. No error message, just disappears with the "send error report" window appearing.

Hi JD,

It seems that any dynamic navigation is incredibly slow when Adjust command is active, even without using 3D Connexion. I'll log a bug - Thanks for reporting it.

We can see that the crashes are occurring in the SBS addin. I logged a support call with them to investigate, but it would be good if you could do the same too.

In that case, Addins can also be disabled by running the Add-in Manager before starting Inventor. From Windows, Start, Autodesk, Inventor 2021, Tools.

With us the crashes are happening seemingly randomly. There doesn't appear to be any pattern to the crashes. At first it was happening whenever I was trying open a sub-assembly. After a few crashes that, that problem went away and then just started crashing randomly. I submitted the crash report so hopefully that helps.
