First, i assume the scene is set to associative in regards to the assembly's representation?

If that is true, and there are still invisible parts in the scene, have you checked if there are any opacity overrides on the storyboard?

Opacity can be set as an override so it won't break the associativity to the assembly representation.

Check if you can expand parts or assemblies that have the icon like in the first image above, you should get the yellow/transparent bar if you do.

You can delete the transparent overrides from there.

Does that help?

Unable to update or edit tweaks in a snapshot once used in a .Dwg

A snapshot view was created in the Presentation environment.

The original creator had hardware items hidden in the .ipn. when adding tweaks.

We now want to show those items without re-doing all work completed in the .ipn to date.

When the user right clicks on "edit tweak", there is no control over what parts are visible or invisible, regardless of the reference .iam visibility status of the parts..

How does one fix this?

All changes in the presentation file we want to be viewed, as edited, in the assembly drawing when completed.

This is ALWAYS the case, and it is why the .ipn file was checked out and opened up to start with. If the link is broken, the edits will not show up in the drawing view. Once not visible, the only selection options to identify the parts in question, to be made visible, have to be accessed from the feature tree, not the viewing area of the .ipn

This should be an easy task, but with Autodesk software limitations, this does not appear to be possible...without re-doing a whole new Snapshot View and re-tag parts in it, which would be both costly and ridiculous.

Hi Nathan,

Does the assembly file contain custom LOD? Please share the files here or send them (zipped) to me directly johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. It sound like a corruption to me.

Many thanks!

This is still an open issue, and not resolved.

On another assembly today , I created an .ipn snapshot view and placed it in a drawing.

I saved the file and checked in a copy (so it could be viewed by others) and left it open so I could still work on it.

Some time later, I then revised one of the tweaks, to bring a subassembly into a better position for clarity, and the drawing view did not and will not update. The .iam file has been unchanged the entire day.

The .dwg view referencing the .ipn snapshot view is frozen to the visual state before the changes.

If I right-click on the view, "Update model" is grayed out, and un-selectable.

Why is this?

Are you sure you want to mark any posts as the solution already then?

You did not reply to any of the return questions, so let's just get to your new question:

@Anonymous wrote:

Some time later, I then revised one of the tweaks, to bring a subassembly into a better position for clarity, and the drawing view did not and will not update.

Did you check that the drawing view is associative to the snapshot?

Is the position of the snapshot indicator on the storyboard at the end of all the tweaks?

Are you updating the snapshot? (no blue "recycle" icon on the snapshot?)

If the drawing view is associative; does moving the snapshot indicator on the storyboard trigger an update sequence where you can click the "recycle" update icon and then the associative view on your drawing updates?

Go to your presentation (.ipn) and check the storyboard at the base of the window, scroll along the timeline until you find a small arrow pointing upwards, hover over the arrow and it will say "Associative Snap View: View 1". You need to move (drag) this small arrow to the end of the timeline so that all your tweaks are included in the snapshot that will be your base view. Then you can return to your .dwg drawing, you will need to place the Base view again and then it will show all of your tweaks.

This still not solves the problem for me, it is like the .ipn does not update itself when I save it and therefore doesn't update the drawing

Does placing the base view again mean you need to replace all the balloons that were placed in the view?

This doesn't seem right, surely there is a better way to update an exploded view of an assembly without having redo work
