How to delete rectangular pattern elements OUTSIDE of the inscribed circle?

Hi,

I drew a rectangular patern of circles. 20 rows, 20 collums.

Then I drew a circle rougly the size of the square of circles.

Now I want to delete just all the parts that are not in the circle.

How do I do that?

(Please please please don't say by hand, it's 2020 here.)

There are several easy techniques - the technique I will demonstrate depends on whether a sketch pattern or a feature pattern is used.

Why are you using Inventor 2017 rather than Inventor 2021?

Students and schools get the latest version of Inventor for free.

I don't have access to Inventor 2017, but I could show you in Inventor 2021.

Hi JD Mather,

I'm sorry for my late reply. Right after I had send that message I fried my hard drive. So I just bought a new computer and set up 2021 student version as you suggested.

In the attachment you will find the file of the drawing that I am trying to make. It is a baffle plate of a heat exchanger.

What I tried to do is to create a rectangular patern of the circles and then erase all those that are out of or touching the inner circle.

One comment I received from a collegue in training is that he would do the volume of the body first and then select the points that need to be transferred in holes. I did that in the second drawing, but the problem remains. How do I select only those points that are inscribed in the circle?

Thanks for your reply. I posted a reply to Mather's answer and had a look at your suggestion. It describes exactly what I was loking for but is way over my head for the time being. Still in trainng...... But thanks for showing me the future!
