drawing representation differs from actual model

So I imported this model into inventor from an .iges file and when I throw this into a drawing all of the components convert back into blocks and shapes. anyone have this issue before? ill post pictures below.

@Anonymous Edit the base view.. Go to the "Recovery Options" tab and check the box for "Include Surface Bodies"..

Is that better?

Yeah that model is screwed up.. @johnsonshiue Johnson you might want to look at this one..

Can you request a STEP file instead of IGES? I've had issues with iges before but never with step files..

the models are from autocad that I then export as a .iges file. I dont believe autocad can export out into a .step file. any suggestions?

Attach the AutoCAD *.dwg file here.

Inventor will import AutoCAD files directly - no need to wash through IGES (but it is necessary to know some steps that can be tricky for the import process).

You could also export as ACIS *.sat from AutoCAD.

Hi! I believe this is an issue on AutoCAD side. The problem here is that the 3D geometry is non-uniform scaled and also it does not carry a unit. You can import the same IGES file back to AutoCAD and you will see the geometry was all wrong also.

This is not true scaled geometry. It is incompatible with a true scaled modeler like Inventor unfortunately. I believe you can create drawing views in AutoCAD using View Ports.

What is the source of this dwg geometry? Who created it?

If you run the LIST command in AutoCAD - are any Solid Bodies reported by AutoCAD?

These models come from a resource I have from work, I cant go into much detail about it because of the nature of my work. Sorry for the vague details

Hi! The "correct" display in Inventor looks like a bug to me. If you drag the part a bit, you will see the size changes.

I understand what you mean, if I could make a drawing on what is represented in the inventor model space then it would enough for me. Do you know any possible workaround or adjustments I could try? it does not have to be a perfect solution.

Hi! If I were you, I would document it in AutoCAD. The way AutoCAD handles 3D geometry is very flexible. Each piece of geometry can be scaled arbitrarily. This behavior makes its 3D data hard to consume on a precise true-scale modeler like Inventor.
