Inventor copying my project to another folder

I'm organizing a folder structure for my Inventor projects. Each project follows the same folder structure. When I want to create a new project, I simply copy my template folder structure and rename the folder/Inventor project.

Next, I double-click on my Inventor project in the folder structure to open it in Inventor.

This is where things go wrong. Inventor creates a duplicate of my project in a different location, which I don't want. Because this results in error messages about active projects.

I've already tried adjusting some settings in the application options, specifically under project files, but I haven't quite figured it out yet.

I hope my question is clear. I've attached a few screenshots as well. Hopefully, one of you can help me out.

My desired solution is to be able to copy my folder structure and create new projects this way, without all these projects ending up in a shared folder.

Are you sure that the active project is set up correctly? Are you working with the Project Editor or just Windows Explorer?

Remember that WE is not the right tool for managing data in Inventor. You should work with the Project Editor, Design Assistant or Vault.

Hi, Thank you for your quick response. I am not 100% sure the active project is setup correctly since this is the first time trying it out.

I am setting up my default project with Project Editor. And after that I copy the default project+map structure I created through WE. And rename it so that I have a new project. This isn't an acceptable way?

Because at my last company they managed their files the same way. Through WE. (The had Inventor 2018 tho)
