I have a plate with a counterbore and into that I assemble a bolt. I want to weld the bolt in place then machine away what remains of the head.

I've managed to create the weld but when I go to create the machined feature the weld disappears. Any clues?

What version of Inventor?

Attach assembly here.

This will be an easy one.

My first guess would be that you are actually creating a preparation feature and not a machining feature. When you go into the preparation environment all the welds will disappear since preparations happen before any welding is done.

Sorry for the late reply, I only just had chance to look at this again.

Really appreciate you taking the time to model this and send it to me, I learnt a bit more on how to do the weld properly too.

Regards,

Simon
