IDW PDF Export has displaced view render (file keeps re-registering as dirty)

Hi All,

Every time I try and export a pdf I get a prompt that a view needs updating - i have repeatedly hovered mouse over views and the update view lighting symbol activates and I click on it but the file remains dirty, then the pdf has a dispaced view render slapped over the top.

Does anyone else experience this?

Hi! There is indeed a corrupted raster view (not shown in the browser). To see it, right-click on the sheet in the browser -> Copy -> Paste. Delete the old corrupted sheet. You will see the raster view. Delete it.

We have seen a few users reporting the same behavior. But we cannot reproduce it internally. Do you know how to reproduce the behavior? Please share the idw template file with me (johnson.shiue@autodesk.com) directly. Maybe it already contains the corrupted raster view.

Hi Johnson,

Here is the template.

The behaviour happened when I saved as an idw multiple times and then replaced the model reference. As i have previously mentioned with other issues i have had recently the directory I am working out of is live synced to dropbox. This is the only other thing i can think of.

The bigger issue for me is that any file - iam/ipt or idw that i have that suffers corruption my only avenues for recovery are to dive into iLogic to delete unamed blocks etc or to copy and paste geometry/views etc into a new file. This is problematic if there are significant derived linkages to consider or a large number of files that affected.

Ideally a tool from auntodesk to parse file contents and remove corruption would be my solution! 🙂

Hi,

you could also look into the following solution:
Solved: Re: invisible raster view in pdf - Autodesk Community - Inventor

This is an iLogic-rule that you can use to delete any erroneous views. When saved as an external rule, you can trigger this rule to be run on every drawing that you save.

Hi! The template looks fine. I don't see any corruption. Do you know how to reproduce the hidden corrupted view from scratch?

Hi Alexander,

Thankyou - that is exactly the solution i need.

I have already manually fixed the current batch of affected files by copy/pasting views onto new sheets but will use this if/when it happens again.
