Tube and Pipe - Creating a pipe style

Hello everyone!!!

I am trying to create a pipe style in Inventor, but I am facing this alert, which I am confused about. I don't understand the warning, since the iparts fittings are in the same folder as the project ......

See attached the screen image showing the warning

What am I doing wrong?

Hello! It looks like the error is indicating a problem with the part authoring, not the location of the file. Can you share the authored part file here? Maybe I can see what is missing.

@alexandrelongo What version of Inventor are you using? I published your elbow and noticed several columns in the Content Center are blank. I believe we are both seeing the issue mentioned in this thread. I am going to try to upgrade to the latest, per @johnsonshiue 's advice in that thread, and try publishing the part again.

@alexandrelongo after loading 2021.2.1, the elbow publishes correctly. Your style should work with this fix.

If you are starting from 2021.0, you will need to update to 2021.2 first, and then to the 2021.2.1....

It can get very confusing! 🤣 Use the guidance of your Autodesk account, or ask here if you run into problems.

How do I know that my inventor has been properly updated? If my update was done correctly .. then I can say that it didn't work, still giving the same error that I already mentioned.

This is all very strange, because until a short time ago ... I was able to do this type of procedure, without any problem, and because now, even though I was doing all the previous process ... did you decide to give me a problem?

Thank you for responding so quickly, note in the attached image, the update is correct, and I continue with the problem .... I will see how to delete my Content Center, and redo from scratch now with this version

Do not delete the entire Content Center! Just the elbow that is giving you problems. Find the family in the editor, right mouse click on it and select Delete Family.

For a moment I thought it would work, I was confident, I deleted everything I had to delete, within my understanding, and it's still the same ..... will I have to redo the families from scratch?!?!? I am very discouraged with Inventor. I'm migrating from Revit, and so far I'm just disappointing myself.
One thing I noticed is that if I use the old file, of the tube, for example ... it keeps the authorship of the piece, can I delete this, without having to start an ipart from scratch?

You commented on just deleting the elbow from the content center, but I'm ashamed to ask how to do it, because as you can see in the image below, I click with the mouse with the right button .. and there are no options to delete, I believe that you must be able to edit the content center. But I don't know where .....

Please don't be too discouraged. There is a lot to learn. That's why this community is here to help you out.

In your picture (thanks for posting!), look at the top left where it says Library and Merged View. That means that you are looking at both the Read Only libraries that came with Inventor, AND your own Read/Write (custom) library. Some functions are not available in merged View. Click in that window and select your custom library name so that you are only viewing that library... then try to delete the family as I described earlier.

You asked about the authoring of your tube. There should be no reason to delete any of this. The authoring should be fine, the problem was with a bug in that release of Inventor... not with your tube part. I would just leave the tube alone. But, check the Content Center famiy for the tube and see if that one also has missing columns. If it does, delete the Family (like described above) and then Publish again from the part file.

Would a short video of all of this help?

If your publishing issues still continue here is a workaround I use frequently.

Modifying fitting family without creating new ipart and reaauthor and publish.

If your looking to change a dimension of a family part in content center and republish and create a new part you can do this without creating an iPart from scratch.
With this procedure you can have a new family in minutes.

1. Navigate to your guide family (a family which geometry best matches your intended new part) right click save copy as, save this family to your custom library give a new name.

2. Enter the table Ensure that the filename for each member is different than existing Guide family. Change your desired dimensions on each member.
3. If you are not able to visualize the dimension name, place new family member as custom in order to expose the sketch and the dimension parameters A,B,C etc. Screen shot this sketch or parameter box.

4. Go back into the New part table in CC and modify parameters.

Optional

If dimension parameters are not visible in the table, they are not mapped from part to table. Some CC parts are not fully mapped.

5. Create a new column of the parameter you wish to map in CC table,

6. Exit family and Right click on family part select parameter/ template mapping

7. you should see the parameter you wish to map from the sketch/part on the left, select new column added in CC table on the right.
8. Mapping complete.
9. If you need to change units this could be done through a template family replace.

In addition certain features like threads and geometry can be added as long as you do not delete the workpoint and planes or geometry that is used in authoring the T&P part (the connecting arrows)

I appreciate the encouragement, in fact, I can't give up, my job depends on it. Anyway, I'm sending a video, for your example, after all a video is worth more than words to images .... In it I show my whole process, until I reach the point where Inventor doesn't allow create the Pipe Style ...

I hope that with this video you can see my error during the process ....

At the end of the video, it quickly appears, a Skid that I'm doing in Revit, and that I intend to "One day" replicate in Inventor, I hope I can

Your video did show me what you are doing wrong. Your first action was to place a tube from the COntent Center and then save it as an ipart, author it and pubish it. I have to ask, why did you do that when the tube is already in the Content Center? You could simply use the existong family for your T&P Style.

In either case, a Pip or Tube family must be a true ipart, with multiple size instances, in order to work with Tube & Pipe. That is why you are getting the authoring error when you try to create the style. My advice is to use the existing family in your style. Do you need the ability to modify that family table to add things like Part Numbers?

Well, I'm realizing that I should have made the video longer ... it would have saved us more time .... Anyway, in the video, I just wanted to show that I was able to delete the existing block, and insert a new one ... just this. ..
As I understand your explanation, should my blocks be of various sizes? This explains the reason why I was able to do it before ..... because it was of different sizes ...

Would that be it? .. because I admit that in the new block I made, they do not have several dimension options, as shown in the image below.

If so, then I believe we are on the way ..... I am going to take the test this weekend.

About creating these parameters, I know the basics, where I already did some tests that obviously were not successful ... because I wanted to create a different description for the cover member of my ipart, as well as a specific code .... as I highlight in the image below .... how could I proceed?

I would appreciate it immensely if you could show it through video, I was a fan of this excellent possibility ... My deadline is getting short and I would like to solve this little detail .. to finally start building my library, and finally work with the Inventor as in Revit.
